There are different reasons why one is considered attractive, especially to the opposite gender.
Generally, programmers are attractive because they are creative, hardworking, intelligent, patient, dedicated to their craft, intentional about what they want, financially stable, straightforward humans and mostly committed to their partners.
Although there are some female programmers, a larger percentage of programmers are male. Research carried out by zippa.com shows that 29% of programmers in the United States of America are females.
Just in case you are specifically wondering if “male programmers are attractive”, the points outlined here still holds.
The word “Attraction” might mean different things to different people.
By context, attraction is when we are interested in, intrigued by, or feel the urge to gravitate toward something or someone.
However, the features or qualities that attract you to someone might be different from what attracts the next person.
Contrary to popular opinion, being attractive is more than just appearance, the individual’s personality, confidence and passion all play a significant role.
In the past week, I conducted a survey with 74 ladies ( all between the ages of 16 to 40 years) that claim male programmers are attractive to see the reason for their judgment.
And in this article, I’ll be sharing the findings with you.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the reasons why most people consider programmers attractive.
1. Programmers are rich
Most people assume that programmers are rich due to the salary quota they find on the internet. If you are one of these people let me inform you that it is untrue.
Not all programmers are rich. however, they are mostly financially stable, and there is attractiveness in financial stability.
Programming is a lucrative job, and programmers make a lot of money at least enough to be financially stable.
According to the US News Report, the average salary of a programmer in the United States of America is $89,190 per annum.
Women are not only attracted to the riches (or in this case financial stability) but the power and status that it brings with it.
This is not particular to a race but a generally known fact.
Research carried out on 1.8 million dating profiles from 24 countries confirms that women are attracted to financially stable guys.
In a written piece for Psychology Today, a lecturer at Swansea University with specialization in psychology explained that humans have a preference for riches and wealth because it is a cue of the ability to obtain resources like shelter, food, clothing, protection, etc.
2. Programmers are Intelligent
Programmers are considered to be intelligent people and from research, about 8% of young adults (between 18 and 35 years old) consider intelligence to be more attractive than looks and a sense of humor.
It turns out that there is a term for being attracted to high levels of intelligence – Sapiosexual. “Sapio: is a Latin word that means ‘wise’ ”.
Although I consider sapiosexuals to be intellectual extremists because they are not attracted to average intelligence but sexually attracted to only highly intelligent people, the peak category of intelligent people.
Not a bad type of attraction because in most cases sapiosexuals are also highly intelligent humans and this agrees with the law of attraction that says: “like attracts like”.
You might not be a sapiosexual, shooting for the very top intelligent elites, but we can all agree that everyone likes an average intelligent guy, someone who can take the right actions at the right time.
Unfortunately, not all programmers are smart but a programmer, diligent at his work is considered smart.

3. Programmers are patient
What else is patience if not spendings hours writing codes and debugging errors that don’t want to be found?
Coding can really be stressful but programmers have nurtured the right work attitude to avoid endless frustration.
The inherent patient virtue of programmers is often applied in their other spheres of life and makes them attractive to the opposite gender.
4. Programmers are committed
Some ladies are attracted to programmers because they know that programmers will be committed to the relationship.
Most programmers have little or no time for cheating, flirting around or getting involved in scandalous romantic affairs; they’ve had their share of daily stress already.
Their off-work time is better spent with their girlfriend or family if married, playing with their pet cat, gaming with colleagues or hosting/attending conferences, workshops and meetups.
However, they might have issues about putting their partner before or after their work and computer. This is because most programmers consider programming not just as work but as fun.
5. Programmers are straightforward and do not play mind games
Women find programmers attractive because they are assured that programmers are straightforward and have no time for mind games and guilt-tripping.
If programmers feel something, they are bound to say it clearly without cutting corners.
Although it might not be the best approach for every situation, you can trust a programmer to be plain with facts with less dramatics.
6. Programmers are intentional, they work hard to build what they desire
Show me someone that’s not attracted to intentional humans and I’ll pass a white pigeon through a needle’s eye.
Goal getters, pace setters and team-spirited individuals with well-endowed positive mindsets are the new waves of sexiness.
Most people get into programming because of the need to create either a platform, software or application that solves a common problem.
They keep learning and building for years until they achieve their childhood desire.
As a result, they tend to be intentional about everything they set their mind to.
They are intentional about their workout routine, their diet and nutrition, their relationships, their coffee consumption and this right here, is attractive even to species of the same gender.
7. Programmers are Rational thinkers
To be able to analyze problems and create viable solutions with code, one must be able to think rationally.
Coding over time has enhanced programmers’ critical thinking skills and this is subconsciously utilized in other aspects of their lives.
Why are Female Programmers Attractive?
A lady that can help debug errors, understands data structure and algorithms and opens your mind to logic, a lady that also understands the concept of time and prefers automating recurring tasks with Python.
These are a few reasons why female programmers are attractive.
Good physical look/appearance is a solid addition.
Being together with such a lady will definitely add more colorful styling to your plain HTML lifestyle.
Conclusion
Many see programmers as attractive based on certain appealing qualities they possess.
But as taste differs across individuals so do people have different triggers that attract them to the next person.
In essence, the traits you see in a programmer that seems attractive and intriguing might just be repulsive to someone else.
